Quick Way To Improve Noisy Images

In this blog I will share a quick tip to improve high ISO photos where noticeable noise is present. I don’t always use this as sometimes a smarter AI based noise reduction tool can work better, but this has saved me a few times.

  1. De-noise the photo - how much noise reduction will depend on the specific image however I would typically do it until all visible noise is removed and the photo looks a little soft and pastel like.

  2. Apply a small amount of grain in order to bring back some texture. No real rule for how much to apply as it depends on the specific image. Typically I will apply it until I can see the grain when zoomed in.

Below are a couple examples.
