Photography In Piran

Piran is a small seaside town about 2 hours away from Ljubljana and in my opinion is a hidden gem. We got the bus at 6:30am and by 9am were having coffee by the sea.

For this day trip I had the XT4 and 16-55 (24-70) which covered pretty much everything. At no point did I want a wider or longer lens, although a lighter prime would have been nice for all the walking.

Some notable things to do / to see… climb up to the old castle at the top and the main church tower for amazing views. Just watch out for the bell ringing when on the tower…. scared the life out of me. Also if you go in the summer months, don’t forget you swimming trunks… the water is amazing. Other than that, just get lost in the tight streets and alleyways and pay attention to all the details especially on a sunny day.

Although this is a small town, next time I would actually come for a weekend and not just a day. Given how tight the streets are and how fast the light changes, there are so many opportunities which only last a few minutes. Also, I can imagine it is really nice to shoot at night when all the lights come on.
