Photograph The Journey

Why is it that when we go somewhere to shoot our camera usually stays in our bag till we get to that location? I lost count of how many times I’d be travelling somewhere with my camera in my bag only to regret it the moment I saw a great photo. Of course I always have my phone on me as a last resort but in an ideal world, I’d want to have my camera within easy reach. So now I always have it in a small sling with a 35mm or a 50mm prime on just in case. This has proved fruitful many times as I ended up getting great shots on the journey, be it on the train, plane, in a car or on foot. Finally photographing the journey gives you a start / end to your album and although those photos might not be the ones you’d print and hang on your wall, they will be the ones that evoke many memories. We almost always enjoy the journey more than the destination, so why not photograph it. Below are some examples of my travel day photos.
